The lifts are open later, full snowsuits have been ditched for a light shell jacket, and goggle tans are making a comeback. It must be spring at Sun Peaks! We may still be a few weeks from green grass and flowers like many other destinations, but spring at the Peaks is a glorious time of year. You’re officially invited to patio season in the mountains!

Where you live now, patio season may not start until Canada Day weekend, when the weather is “stable” enough for both customers and servers to be comfortable. At Sun Peaks, spring is patio season.

Let’s take a cruise through the village and highlight five of the top patios in the Sun Peaks village.

5Forty Café & Grill. Nestled in the top of the village core in the Fireside Lodge, grab a panini and a cold drink before settling in on their patio. Tucked away from the lifts, this is a peaceful spot for a patio lunch or après ski on your way home for the night.

Cahilty Creek Kitchen & Taproom. Part of Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Lodge, this patio is right off the slopes. Take Rambler to Gentle Giant off the Sundance Express and you’ll be enjoying a tasty appetizer and local pint before you know it.

Mantles. Located in the Sun Peaks Grand, this is where you want to be for an elevated patio experience. Enjoy fine wines and locally sourced food in the heart of the village core. Plus, if you’re a guest at the hotel, you can move from the restaurant patio to the pool deck one floor up and carry on your relaxing in the hot tub. Bonus!

Bottoms Bar & Grill. A local’s favorite spot for springtime at Sun Peaks. The Bottoms patio is at the base of the Sunburst and Sundance lifts, and is also the end of the Top to Bottoms Race on the last day of the season. Watch out for the bell over the bar. You hit the bell, you’re buying for everyone at the bar!

Masa’s Bar + Grill. Part of the Village Day Lodge, Masa’s patio is right across from Bottoms, which just elevates the energy on a sunny day in the spring! Looking for a cold brew? Masa’s serves the largest selection of draft beer in Sun Peaks. This is where you want to be for après ski!
